In 1978 I read Kaufman's book, "Faith of a Heretic" and liked it a lot. I recommend it; there are used copies for sale online. I recently reread his translation of "I and Thou" and enjoyed his introduction very much.

His "I and Thou" introduction was very good. It was what I was referring to in my OP. Oddly, what struck me was how similar some of his writing style was to that of his Nietzsche translations. It made me wonder whether he wrote like Nietzsche or he translated Nietzsche into his (Kaufman's) own style.

Make a joyous noise onto the lord... Not a good one, just a joyous one.

Give us brief summary about 'I and Thou', please, for the sake of reminiscence and jouissance.
