For my money, correspondence is a theory of meaning (i.e., use), not a theory of truth. The very idea of a theory of truth is muddled.

Davidson: We make maximum sense of the words and thoughts of others when we interpret in a way that optimizes agreement.
Russel Morris: There's a meaning there, but the meaning there doesn't really mean a thing...

I may still be missing something, so be patience with me here. How can you substitute [(E)Diogenes & p] with P? You can deduce P...but deduction is not equivalent to 'logically equivalent' (no pun intended) is it? That is what our axiom is calling for.

You don't - you substitute
(the x such that x=Diogenes & p) = (the x such that x=Diogenes)

for P

(the x such that x=Diogenes) = (the x such that x=Diogenes)

is a tautology, and so true. Therefore

(the x such that x=Diogenes & p) = (the x such that x=Diogenes)

will be true whenever p, and so can be substituted for p.

I am satisfied that there is no reasonable way to make sense of the question. If you think there is a reasonable way to present the question, then do so. Otherwise, come back when you have something interesting to add.

Cool.

Now what do you think of the argument??

I don't know whether or not there is a reasonable way to make sense of the question, but what I do know is that, even though I learned a few things about truth (that it can be grouped, that it cannot be broken, etc...), I still don't know what truth is. The question, 'What is Truth?' still won't leave me alone, though.
What about you, will your satisfaction make you stop looking for the answer to that question?

What is it with you and interesting things? Fine: today I (mostly) finished a drawing I was working on for quite some time.
