anyone knows what's our ritual concerning breeding and staying with the one who gave you children? they say we are to stay with someone, the husband/wife who coöperated in having offspring, for the rest of our lives. but then why does everyone get divorced? the human being probably is the most ignorant species of nature, because it totally lost its origin, purpose, goals (more and more don't even breed) and nature. this can't be a positive development, can it?

does anyone have something to say about this?

The high rate of divorce actually reveals something about the sincerity of marital commitments. Our society has many people who never make serious commitments. For them, every time they say "Yes, I do", they have their fingers crossed. You can see these people in schools, they want grades without studying. You can see them in parks, they want somebody else to clean up the trash they leave. You can see them on the streets, driving a SUV with eco-nut bumper stickers. You can see them in divorce court, they want somebody else to raise their kids.

Leave no assumption unquestioned.

true but you can't say all divorcements are made by non-serious people. i think the number of people, whom you've spoken about, will fall in the future. but what would drive all the non-lazy and rationalistic people into divorcements?

Love. Everyones heard of it. Most people think they know what it is. Few probably do. People get a taste of it, get in over their heads, and wake up one morning feeling horribly dissillusioned. It's a seductive thing, even serious people fall to it's might. After that human greed kicks in, people think if they get out of the relationship they can find a better one. Sense of duty dosn't really come into play, even for the people who honor their commitments. It's one thing to make a commitment and it's quite another to be tricked or forced into that commitment. And everyones feels like they got screwed over when their heart is broken.
