Hello, for now I guess I'll go by Stellar on these forums. I'm 16 right now, and I have a divine interest in philosophy. I like to listen to underground Hip-Hop, such as Jedi Mind Tricks, and the likes. I'm a freshmen in high school, and I plan on dropping out within this year. The reason being, my personal life is messed up, but id rather not get into that. I plan on joining the Army, or the Marines, and using the money I get for school to go to college for philosophy. I enjoy thinking, and I think alot. I also like art, and graffiti. I do graffiti on my own time and only where I see it needs to be done. For example, I did a piece on a corporate factory the other week which read, CORPORATE PIGS. I would like to know more about politics than I do... to tell the truth I would like to know a lot more about everything I don't know about. This forum looks like a good place to do that. Anyways if you have any questions about me, feel free to ask. Thanks.

First of all, super that you are interested in Philosophy. At your age, most of the kids out there find that marketing jingles are the highest form of Philosophy that they can understand. It wasn't any different in my days. Same dance different tune.

I cannot give you too much advice, as that is against my own personal convictions. What I can recommend is that you never stop asking questions. You don't have to have the answers just yet. It would be kind of freaky if you'd really have all the answers. Actually it would be a pain in the ass.

You music choice is a good one. Keep looking into it. I am a big fan of old school and 70's,80's,90's Rap and hip-Hop. Then again the last 9 CD's a purchased (too old for downloads!) were The Kaiser Chiefs, Marilyn Manson, The Pizzicato 5, Chet Baker, Jurassic 5, Hüsker Dü, Björk, Sigur Rös and Eels. I don't know what that means, but that isn't the point.

A great tip from Joseph Campbell, "follow your bliss and you will find doors that open where you could not have imagined were there before".

I like you have had a bit of a uugghh personal life growing up. I now live outside the system. It ended up that I left America, ended up in Austria and work as a trainer for future professional cyclists. I have a B.S. in Philosophy/Religion (no Bullshit). It is more valuable for my work as a trainer as every sports medicine course I have ever taken.

I have very little respect for those who demand it. A true authority will not want to use power as a control device. "Ya gotta Fight the Powers that be!" (Chuck D) Just one question though, how? You've got time kid.

Army, Marines, wow, I was a professional Athlete most of my life, but that is one thing I would not like to do. Just not a morning person and I like to make my own rules. A bad combination for military service.

So you want to learn more about say everything? Me too. Gotta take the power back!

Keep asking questions kid. You'll be alright.

Ciao!

GREG

I am not one to attribute that which I cannot understand immediately to be god(s)-perhaps I will never understand, but god(s) are not defined by my lack of understanding-this is the foundation of dogmas, the pressing of connotative values into the realm of dennotative meaning. - MOS

Greetings, Stellar

I was much like you a few years ago and felt set apart from a lot of my friends/society.
Basically saying, you aren't alone, my friend.
Always ask questions about everything.

The one thing I learned growing up was:

Make your own answers in the realm of truth and divinity.
If someone claims to know how it all works, they are certainly false.
