Just an idea, but I was wondering whether anyone fancied forming some sort of reading group on the forums where we can go through a book or essay together? We could give it the form of online seminar, where we take it in turns to give a 'presentation' (in the form of a post) on a particular paper or chapter from a book and then let the discussion proceed from there.

I think that there are a lot of people here that we could all learn a lot from, and I have found in the past that you often get a better understanding of a work if you can discuss it with others.

Any takers?

"Philosophers often behave like little children who scribble some marks on a piece of paper at random and then ask the grown-up "What's that?" - It happened like this: the grown-up had drawn pictures for the child several times and said: "this is a man", "this is a house", etc. And then the child makes some marks too and asks: what's this then?" - Ludwig Wittgenstein, Culture and Value

I tried this once with Richard Dawkins's The God Delusion but, sadly, it didn't work out as well as planned. People got lazy, busy, or had forgotten.
