Subject: Introduction to German idealism
I have been interested in the German idealists for a while now (Kant through to Hegel) but have been unable to find a good introduction.

I'm looking for something with an historical bent but which also doesn't assume too much background knowledge and takes time to go into the details of arguments and systems of thought.

Any ideas very much appreciated.

Check out Frederick Beiser's The Fate of Reason: German Philosophy from Kant to Fichte, or Terry Pinkard's German Philosophy 1760-1860: The Legacy of Idealism. Both are fantastic reads.
