What does insecurity steam from?

One thing, that's very common that I see. Is not taking
responsibility for ones actions?

Say. I take a walk in the park and forget to pick my dogs up
when a friend take care of them.

Now, I may come up with a better excuse than I" went to the park"

More like, I had visitors.

"Or, my car crashed down and I couldn't get a hold of my girlfriend
to come and pick me up."

How many types of "insecurity" are there?

I guess this "my example" is more like an "Insecurity Liars
Paradox" than anything.

I had details here, ones.

Insecurity stems from a lack of confidence in oneself or one's actions. Without it, there would be no drive to improve oneself and thereby gain personal security.

Law never made men a whit more just; and, by means of their respect for it, even the well-disposed are daily made the agents of injustice.

Insecurity is an emotional interpretation activated by a perception of inadequacy or unworthiness.

I would suggest it is generally irrational. If it were rational would it not take the form of humility?

Given the child's understanding of world and society usually come via interaction with its parents. This perception would likely originate in infancy. A child whom is not regularly exposed to an environment of warmth & affection could well develop the sense of mistrust which could result in the manifestation of the trait of insecurity.

So that's 3x3x3x3x3x3, which is 729. The philosopher is 729 times happier than the tyrant. It is quite obvious.

Insecurity originates with the ego, as do all negative beliefs. Shyness was the first personality characteristic proven to be inherited, but shyness in and of itself is not insecurity. As cerebation points out, insecurity involves the perception of inadequacy or what I would state more bluntly as a belief of inadequacy. Being naturally shy or whatever might give one more of a tendency to become insecure, but the adoption of a belief of inadequacy is the necessary act that defines insecurity.

Thus exactly how many "types" of insecurity there are depends upon how you wish to analyze them. You could state there is only one kind of insecurity because they all originate with the ego, or you could also assert there are two because some involve more biological origins than others, or you could subdivide them into countless types according to any arbitrary rules you care to impose.

I think a big problem is how we distinguish between insecurity and fear. Do we call it insecurity only out of social context? Or are there real physical differences we can observe?

Keep it simple.

My very first reaction to this post,
just to the seeing of the title,
the word insecurity but like this: d-a-n-g-e-r,
and the kind of reaction where you don't think about it,
and it is just there big, right in your head,
was this:

Things might change.
Things might stay the same.

Through not knowing, this lack of knowledge creates insecurity. Always.

I have slowly come to the conclusion that fear is in relation to an external issue. A person, an animal, a place. Where as insecurity is an inner questioning of ones abilities or self. Example, when we speak to a large group of people are we insecure or fearful?. I think it is both arguably, but when you think of it yourself you can separate the two. You question your ability to deliver to your best ability, but fear whether the audience will like what you have to say. This is where many comedians speak of fear of dying on stage. They are passed the point of questioning what they can do, but now at the point of fearing whether people will at that time, like what they have to say.

We must find the courage to move forward without hesitation and fear. Avoiding the option of hiding within the comforts of our past.
