So I recently had new perspective on Dialetheism that made sense to me so profoundly that I wanted to share it. So many times, Dialetheism is characterized as a denial of the Law of non-contradiction, which would tend to lead to its being outright rejected. But if one considers Dialetheism as more of a position promotion a dialectic (perhaps Hegelian, who knows), then one can view Dialetheism not as a means to say, "X and ~X can be true", but rather that through a conversation of someone saying "X" and another claiming "~X", those involved in such a conversation come to an idea that neither can deny and thus call it "truth". Just thought I might throw that out there to see if people agree or whatever.

That seems focused on the definition, that two people are using apparently contradictory terms for the same entity. I think dialetheism isn't concerned with the definition, but that "X" by whatever definition or properties you can describe, can, (perhaps only in a few instances), be asserted simultaneously as "~X". You might want to read up on postmodernists. There is the idea that the same word and definition can be held differently from different references, or even through one person's revisionism. I think there is even plenty of philosophical room for dialetheism just in the way that people might think about dualism, subjective experience or the weakness of absolutes. But I guess it works as far as logic is concerned.

Ethics is the measuring of morality. Morality is the measuring of good. Good is the measuring of benefit. Benefit is the measure of values.

I've been meaning to read "Contingency, Irony, and Solidarity", by Richard Rorty, but Borneo doesn't have much in bookstores. I learned about it mostly through the Wikipedia article and criticisms from Dennett, which make me even more interested.
