The Language Instinct, by Steven Pinker

First hundred pages are amazing. I never suspected that linguistics could be so intellectually rewarding. Pinker does a great job of explaining how Chomsky demolished the main psychological paradigm of his time merely by analysing the syntax of sentences.

Nick Land - The Thirst for Annihilation: Georges Bataille and Virulent Nihilism

Speculative Realism before speculative realism was a thing. Quite possibly one of the most fascinating books I've read.

Funny, I stumbled across Fanged Noumena yesterday while looking Amazon.com suggestions. I'll have to check out that and The Thirst for Annihilation.

Heh, don't be taken in by the title, 180: its not really a book on Bataille so much as it is a book inspired by Bataille (much like Bataille's own misleadingly titled On Nietzsche). And Maw, the book comes up in pdf as the first link if you search for it on Google. Should give you a tatste of what its like.

Yeah I've spent the last half-hour skimming through the PDF. Looks intense (in a good way).

Caveat: Nick Land seems to be the intellectual father of the 'Dark Enlightenment' movement (neo-reactionary/feudalist, white supremacist)... rolling eyes

Unsure how connected these ideas are with the discussed works above... confused

The Trial by Franz Kafka

I am pretty obsessed with corrupt bureaucracy, alienation, and confused points of view. I wonder why..
