Tell me about a word you like.

I'll start: Piquant

adjective
having a pleasantly sharp taste or appetizing flavor.
• pleasantly stimulating or exciting to the mind.

The taste of lime, squeezed over a green salad.

Davidson: We make maximum sense of the words and thoughts of others when we interpret in a way that optimizes agreement.
Russel Morris: There's a meaning there, but the meaning there doesn't really mean a thing...

GREG

I am not one to attribute that which I cannot understand immediately to be god(s)-perhaps I will never understand, but god(s) are not defined by my lack of understanding-this is the foundation of dogmas, the pressing of connotative values into the realm of dennotative meaning. - MOS

I like how some words sound what they are. "Tundra" has that feel of the mysterious wilderness while "Symphony" evokes the contrast to the rugged outdoor of the tundra. "Poignant" looks awkward written down, and sounds misplaced when used in an intimate conversation. "Catamaran", for some reason, sounds to me like it has to do with the ocean right from the start.

I love 'nebula'. It just sounds nebulous. And I love actual nebulae, they're really pretty, although really just a trick of light and spectra.

And 'subterranea'. It gives the impression of something hidden, something obscured beneath the surface. And it ends in 'a'.

conundrum

There are also some great scottish words like dreich,(re weather - wet and dull) mingin, (filthy) and gugit (also dirty, but in a different way). Strangely, I cannot think of any scottish words I like describing pleasant things.
