Hi, I've been pondering about this for a while and have been researching about them.

They seem so similar in that they both deal with pattern recognition and software. What's the difference? Is there a subtle difference? Thanks.

I think "AI" would be a broader category which would include computational neuroscience. I only had the first course when I was in college, however, and know there are a many more subjects not covered by the latter term. Computational neuroscience sounds like it would only cover ANN, (artificial neural networks). It is a bigger field than when I was in college, so I can understand making a course out of it. Even in my day, AI was such a comprehensive subject that it seemed we learned a little about a large number of things. When I tried to go back and actually work on those subjects, I was disappointed to find that they were just different ways of looking at general computational subjects, (an "expert system", for example, is just a kind of dynamic decision tree -- if/then conditions stored in a database). (By the way, my old AI instructor made the news a few weeks ago for teaching students to write and implement viruses).

Ethics is the measuring of morality. Morality is the measuring of good. Good is the measuring of benefit. Benefit is the measure of values.
