Don't know if it's just me, but when I click the FORUMS button at the top of a thread, it doesn't take me anywhere. The link a bit lower, where it tells me where I am works fine though, so it's not a big problem.

unenlightened Are you talking about the links in the upper right (forums, links, articles, gallery, chat)? Those just switch between the various functions that PF offers. If you're already on the forums, the "forums" link won't bring you anywhere. If you want to get back to the front page, click on the Philosophy Forums logo in the upper left.

That's right... no problem really. but I'm sure it used to take me to the front page...

Why thank you, Sir. It's probably just an old man's brain malfunction that I prefer links on the right. I never even noticed that the logo was a link.

Okay, this one's sort of weird, but the way smilies function have changed. Unless they have a space on both sides, you just get code. Is this on purpose?

While I've only ever seen a false smilie when someone copies and pastes from Microsoft Word (unless I'm seeing them all the time and thinking they were on purpose), that makes sense. One possible alternative might be requiring there to be a space on at least one side of the smilie. Is that feasible? Are there problem cases?
