1. Name - Erik (big surprise)
2. Gender - Male
3. Age - 36
4. Ethnicity - Caucasian
5. Sexual Orientation (Straight/Gay/Bi) - Straight
6. Highest Level of Education - Graduate school
7. Degrees (and/or) Titles - B.A. Political Science, M.A. Philosophy of Religion (in the process)
8. Occupation - Bartender
9. Estimated Amount of Yearly Wages (Net) - about $40,000 (I work only three days a week - sad that I can make more than many teachers and other people engaged in meaningful forms of employment if I worked just a little more)
10. IQ - Not sure, probably about average or slightly above that. Those internet tests have me at about 150 but I wouldn't put much stock in that.
11. Do you believe your education helps in your occupation? (as compared to your fellow worker) - No
12. Do you believe your IQ helps in your occupation? (as compared to your fellow worker) - No
13. If you went to a post-High School system; what school? - University of La Verne, Claremont Graduate University
14. Married - Yes
14a. Divorced - N/A
14b. Number of marriages - 1
15. Number of offspring - 2 (boys, 10 and 1)
16. On average, how many books do you read in a year? Probably about 40-50
17. Does philosophy(ies) help you in your work place? No
18. [Final] Do you believe you are a constructive member of society? Agree with unenlightened. I will say that I think I'm a decent parent overall, so in a certain sense yes. My occupation is however something that I'm not too proud of, since I make a living in an environment that's probably not beneficial to most people's lives. Hope that doesn't sound too judgemental (and I'm guilty of hypocrisy for sure), but I've seen too many fights, too much vulgarity, and just generally too much viciousness out of people at my job to delude myself into believing that it's entirely harmless. By working there, and making decent money in a relatively short period of time, I'm able to go to school without getting too far in debt, and, more importantly, I'm able to spend lots of time with my family (unlike many other people with more traditional 40-50 hour a week jobs). Sorry for the long answer - this a major issue that I've grappled with for years, with pragmatism winning out over idealism.

10. somewhere between 70-130 I'd imagine.
11. No, most bums have higher education achievements then (see, I can't even spell "than" correctly) I do, and thus have free reign of the more gourmet dumpsters.
12. Oh yeah, keeping your wits about you is vital for keeping the horde of lister bums at bay.
13. My course was online, it was the centre for distance education.
14. Nope
14a. Nope

1. Name MsAntropist
2. Gender I don't think I have been overtly genderised. Sex, woman
3. Age 32

5. Sexual Orientation (Straight/Gay/Bi) it varies, at the moment engaged in heteronormative behaviour
6. Highest Level of Education postgraduate studies
7. Degrees (and/or) Titles BA in philosophy and psychology and MA in applied linguistics.
8. Occupation Spanish teacher and the Tooter's minder
9. Estimated Amount of Yearly Wages, enough to live, work to live, not live to work
11. Do you believe your education helps in your occupation? (as compared to your fellow worker) yes, It would be hard to teach languages without it, although, they are all trained to be teachers too
12. Do you believe your IQ helps in your occupation? (as compared to your fellow worker) not my IQ per se, but my critical thinking faculty
13. If you went to a post-High School system; what school? I studied in two parochial universities in Ireland. I should have been nicer to my parents, they sent my sister to a really fancy one. I was never a good diplomat.
14. Married No way!

17. Does philosophy(ies) help you in your work place? It helps me live a more fullfilling life, I am happily disenchanted with society, consumerism, globalisation, means of mass communication...etc
18. [Final] Do you believe you are a constructive member of society? No, I am a deconstructive member of society, which is badly neededgrin

1. Name
brainpharte

2. Gender:
depends on what they program for the day

3. Age:
I’ve been working on the derivation of the formula for converting to non-vat years. The one I’ve been using puts me at google - 6 pi, but only on Tuesdays before noon. I don’t think that’s right.

4. Ethnicity
laboratory-grown brain in a vat—but I think maybe not the whole brain, since I sometimes overhear what they say out there

5. Sexual Orientation (Straight/Gay/Bi)
Sex is really difficult to pull off in a vat, but the fantasies are not limited to those three options

6. Highest Level of Education
Top Shelf, Third vat from the left

7. Degrees (and/or) Titles
Chief !st Degree Imperial Recon Scout for Planetary Occupation, Herd Management, and Culinary Arts

8. Occupation
Yes, Occupation.
And Herd Management and Culinary Arts

9. Estimated Amount of Yearly Wages (Net)
17 zillion plumboons , and a 10% guaranteed bonus for being a finalist on Dancing with the Stars, which is not as easy for a brain in a vat as you might imagine.

10. IQ
They won’t tell me, but I overheard one of them say it wasn’t anywhere near what they’d hoped. My guess is somewhere in the neighborhood of the Comedy Channel, except when the Daily Show is on.

11. Do you believe your education helps in your occupation? (as compared to your fellow worker)
no. Being a highly successful professional brain in a vat takes no education whatsoever, you just gotta sit still while they connect and reconnect the damn wires.

12. Do you believe your IQ helps in your occupation? (as compared to your fellow worker)
Definitely. If I were anywhere near as smart as they’d hoped, I’d probably drive myself nuts trying to figure out how to get out of here. But as it is, I am quite content, though sometimes I dream about living in the Monterey Bay Aquarium instead of the third tank from the left on the top shelf.

13. If you went to a post-High School system; what school?
Undocumented Institute for Advanced Neuro Messing Techniques, Langley Virginia 23665

14. Married
Not yet but I’ve got a killer crush on the drop dead babe a couple of vats to my right.

14a. Divorced
simulations only--to investigate how feelings of revenge and murderousness imnpair executive prefrontal functions and nearly cause the amigdala to explode

14b. Number of marriages
none yet, unless they erased all memory of such a thing

15. Number of offspring
None actual, but statistically there must be uncounted universes full of simulated offspring, given the number of self-simulations I ran before they figured out what I was doing and reduced my sugar so low I could hardly stay conscious

16. On average, how many books do you read in a year? (Books, being literature, non-fiction, etc. that is roughly 'novel' size, use your own discretion).
Reading books used to be a real pproblem, but ever since the Institute made that deal with Amazon, and got me that Kindle connection, I've read them all.

Last Book Read: Jaws, which gives me nightmares and would you, too, if you lived in a tank with no shark cage.

17. Does philosophy(ies) help you in your work place?
Most definitely. especially Descartes: I sink therefore I am.

18. [Final] Do you believe you are a constructive member of society?
The incalculable value of my personal contribution to their figuring out ways to screw with people’s minds to insure freedom and democracy in the U.S. and A. is challenged only by people who have never even actually met a brain in a vat in a tank in Langley.
